The noisy, polluting diesel engines of the past have been replaced by quieter, cleaner, fuel-efficient engines. RS Werkes feels this is a good fit for the TCA class and is also an opportunity to help remove the stigma of the past about diesels and show the racing public that they do have a place in all levels of motorsports.
“We are very excited about this project to race yet another model of Audi,” said Don Istook, Co-partner of RS Werkes along with Craig Moore. “We have an extensive history racing Audis, including the original Audi Quattro. To have an opportunity like this can help open the door for other teams with similarly fueled vehicles. It’s a great statement from the Pirelli World Challenge that they are open to new technolgy and innovations.”
RS Werkes specializes in Audi projects from fabricating full professional race cars to simple handbuilt exhaust modifications. Sponsors and driver of the new A3 TDI will be announced soon.
