Volvo has officially unveiled its S60 V8 Supercar ahead of its debut in Australia’s leading domestic series.
Race-winning V8 team Garry Rogers Motorsport and Volvo’s motorsport partner Polestar are joining forces to race the S60 in the Swedish marque’s new factory assault on the championship this year.
The car was revealed in an event in Sydney on Thursday morning.
GRM has retained Scott McLaughlin after he starred in his rookie season last year, with long-time Polestar driver Robert Dahlgren making his V8 debut in the second car in place of Alexandre Premat, who has retained an endurance role with the squad.
Volvo Australia’s managing director Matt Braid said: “As the first luxury car manufacturer to enter V8 Supercars with a factory team, we’re delighted to reveal our Volvo S60 race car to meet the challenge of the world’s toughest touring car series and strengthen the presence of the S60 model line – and Volvo brand – here in Australia.”
The V8 season starts with a test day at Eastern Creek on Saturday, with the opening races in Adelaide on March 1-2.
