Franchitti lands Formula E TV role

Dario Franchitti will be part of the television commentary team for the inaugural Formula E season.

Four-time IndyCar champion and three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Franchitti retired from racing last year following a serious accident in Houston, but has remained involved in the sport in a team advisor role with Chip Ganassi Racing. He will join Jack Nicholls in the commentary booth for Formula E’s world feed when the FIA’s new electric car series begins this September.

“We get to see some great racing with the totally new twist of an electric car,” said Franchitti. “It’s going to be fascinating to see how that works – and from a driver’s standpoint, the intricacies of driving it with that instant torque delivery.

“Some of the drivers that are coming on board look amazing. I’m really looking forward to it.”
