The schedule has been set for the second annual mash-up between North American and international sports car series at Circuit of The Americas in Austin.
Racing under the “Lone Star Le Mans” banner, the FIA World Endurance Championship and the new TUDOR United SportsCar Championship will meet Sept. 18-20, culminating in eight hours and 45 minutes of combined racing from both series that draws to a close late Saturday night.
Due to scheduling changes, the WEC’s trip to COTA will mark the series’ first outing after June’s thrilling 24 Hours of Le Mans.
- Thursday, Sept. 18: Practice begins for the WEC from 2:45-4:15 p.m., followed the TUDOR Championship between 5:30-6:30, and ends with WEC night practice from 7:30-9.
- Friday, Sept. 19: Second practice session for the TUDOR Championship runs from 9-10 a.m., the WEC completes its third and final practice session from 10:20-11:20 a.m., the TUDOR Championship holds its third and final practice from 3:20-4:20 which leads into individual qualifying session for its four classes between 4:30-5:50, and the WEC closes the day with two qualifying sessions for its four classes (first for GTs, second for prototypes) Friday evening from 6-7.
- Saturday, Sept. 20: An early warm-up session for TUDOR Championship cars runs from 8:40-9 a.m., and the first event of the day, a 2h45m TUDOR Championship race, takes place from 11:35 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. Grid walk for the six-hour WEC even begins at 4:30, with the race scheduled to go green at 4:56 and run until approximately 11. In a new twist following a tradition from Le Mans, gates to the front straight will be opened after the race for fans to flood the pits and help with the podium celebrations.
