Danny Thompson’s quest to bring his late father’s “Challenger II” back to life 46 years after it was built to chase the World Land Speed Record for piston- and wheel-driven vehicles took a big step toward fulfillment with his team’s successful Bonneville test runs last week. However, the project’s ongoing search for financing has again reached a critical stage, too, and Thompson posted the following appeal on Facebook:
“OK folks, here is where we are at. We NEED SPONSORSHIP. We have gotten this far but are now out of money and are trying to get to Speedweek. We need a big influx of funds. That person or corporation is out there but I have yet to find them. We have lots of space for a name or names on the side of ‘Challenger II’. We also have a donation site at www.thompsonlsr.com/contact.
You too can be a part of history, come along for the ride!”
