A sad tale will draw toward its conclusion on December 16th, as the Marussia Formula 1 team’s complete stock goes under the hammer.
The complete closure of the team headquarters in Banbury, Oxfordshire in the UK means auction house CA Global Partners will be selling off racecars (minus engines), a test lab, trailers, a machine shop,. the corporate offices, spare parts and tools and computer servers.
Marussia spent almost three seasons in Formula 1, and scored its only points finish at Monaco this year, when French rising star Jules Bianchi came home a remarkable ninth (ABOVE). Tragically, Bianchi suffered a horrific crash at Suzuka in October, and although he has returned to his homeland and is now breathing unaided, he remains unconscious.
The team entered just a single car, Max Chilton’s, at the following race in Russia, but failed to make the trip to Circuit of The Americas for the 17th round. Before the penultimate grand prix, in Brazil, Marussia was closed, with the loss of 200 jobs.
The auction will be held at the team’s raceshop, inspection will be allowed on Saturday and Monday, 13th and 15th Dec., and it will be a live public webcast auction and online auction. For more details, click here.
