Four new Ligier LMP3 chassis had been sold ahead of the official launch of the car at Le Mans this week.

French constructor Onroak Automotive, which also builds the Ligier LMP2 coupe, has revealed that the four Nissan-engined JSP3s sold should begin racing before the end of the season.
 Two have been purchased by a French team, which is aiming to give a debut to the car in the European Le Mans Series finale at Estoril in October.

Another two JSP3s have been bought by an Italian team planning to take part in the Asian Le Mans Series, which begins at Fuji the week before Estoril.

Onroak boss Jacques Nicolet, who declined to reveal the identity of his new customers, told AUTOSPORT: “We will be be ready for Estoril, but not before. We have to make sure we test everything before we homologate the car, because then the specification will be fixed.”

The first JSP3, which was unveiled at Le Mans on Thursday, was given a shakedown at Magny-Cours on Tuesday of this week by French GT driver Julien Gilbert.

Olivier Pla, who developed the LMP2 Ligier before his move to the Nissan LMP1 squad for 2015, will undertake the bulk of the testing. Development will start at Magny-Cours the week after the Le Mans 24 Hours and then move to Aragon.

Nicolet explained that Onroak would be able to deliver five cars by September and “after that we will be able build as many as we can sell.”
