Deteriorating weather conditions in Watkins Glen has forced IMSA to cancel qualifying for Sunday’s Sahlen’s Six Hour at the Glen.
The grid will be set on points in the Drivers’ championship, and of IMSA’s four TUDOR United SportsCar Championship classes, only Prototype has a tie to settle.
Based on the rules, pole position between the No. 5 Action Express Racing Corvette DP drivers Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi (156 points) and No. 90 VisitFlorida.com Racing Corvette DP drivers Richard Westbrook and Michael Valiante (156 points) would first look to wins, and both teams have one each.
The next tier is second-place finishes, and only AXR has recorded a second (at Daytona) between the two Chevy-powered teams, which means Barbosa and Fittipaldi will start on pole with Westbrook and Valiante alongside on the front row.
In GT Le Mans, Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen will start on pole in the No. 3 Corvette Racing C7.R, in PC, CORE autosport’s driver trio will start first, and in GT Daytona, the No. 48 Paul Miller Racing Audi R8 will lead its class to the green flag at 10 a.m. ET Sunday morning.
