SAN FRANCISCO — Marco Andretti, driving the No. 25 Andretti Autosport Honda in tribute to fellow Verizon IndyCar Series driver Justin Wilson, led the caravan of competition Indy cars that crossed the northbound side of the Golden Gate Bridge to deliver the Astor Cup — the Verizon IndyCar Series championship trophy — to Sonoma Raceway for the title-deciding GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma on Aug. 30.
Wilson succumbed Aug. 24 to a head injury sustained the day before in a race.
Joining the procession across the iconic American structure were championship contenders Josef Newgarden (No. 67 Hartman Oil CFH Racing Chevrolet), Will Power (No. 1 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet) and Graham Rahal (No. 15 Steak ‘n Shake Honda).
