Danville, VA. (August 24, 2015) – Ashley Freiberg and Trent Hindman narrowly missed the podium at Virginia International Raceway (VIR) Saturday as the Fall-Line duo finished fourth for the 8th round of 10 in the 2015 Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge series.
Freiberg started the race from 6th position and made some impressive passes from the start. She moved up to second place before pitting under caution with just under 70 minutes remaining in the 2.5-hour race. Hindman drove a great stint and marched back up to fourth before needing to pit with ten minutes to go for a splash of fuel. Unfortunately, a slight miscue on pit lane cost an additional 15 seconds and a second place finish.
It was another solid result for the Fall-Line Motorsports IHG Rewards Club/ Trim-Tex BMW to carry momentum on to Circuit of the Americas in just over two weeks.
#46 IHG Rewards Club/ Trim-Tex Drywall Products/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driver quotes:
Ashley Freiberg: “It was a great race for us. We were up to 2nd place at one point, and had really good pace. Unfortunately, we had to pit at the end for fuel and that cost us a bit of time. Even though 4th is a solid result, we are ready for a win. We’ve been working extremely hard as a team, and are getting better each event. Our time is coming. I know it.”
Trent Hindman: “At the end of the day, I’m very proud of the Fall-Line Motorsports crew for our 4th place effort. The Trim-Tex/ IHG Rewards Club/ Top 1 Oil BMW M3 was very fast and consistent over the long haul, and I was more than ready to mount an attack on the leaders in the last 15 minutes. Unfortunately, we were just a bit shy on fuel and had to pit for a splash and go which took us out of position to win. We’ll learn from this and bring our A-game to COTA.”
Michael Harvey, Fall-Line Motorsports Team Manager: “Another strong run by the Fall-line Motorsports BMW at VIR, although it could have been better, a slight hiccup at the last stop with 10 minutes remaining cost us a podium finish.
I am very proud of the entire group, they are all performing at a very high level at the moment and it is fun to watch. Victory lane is not far away for the IHG Rewards Club / Trim-Tex BMW as we will take this short break to breathe and re-load so we can come out fighting at Texas and Road Atlanta.”
The VIR race will be broadcast on September 6 on FOX Sports 1. Next up is Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas on September 15-16.
