Bodymotion Racing COTA Pre-Race Report

By

Bodymotion Racing races to Austin for eighth round of IMSA’s Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge at Circuit of the Americas (COTA)

The team will be racing with their normal #31 Cayman ST entry piloted by Ethan Low with support from Visit St. Pete/ Clearwater FL and Jason Rabe supported by Monticello Motor Club and Delaware Investments.  Jason made his series debut in this car last year at this race and has continued with the team ever since.  Ethan came on board to co-drive with Jason this year and the duo has the team sitting sixth in the championship standings.  Bodymotion and its young drivers plan on improving that position by the end of this event.

Rabe who up until a week ago wasn’t sure if he would even be able to close out the season is thrilled to return to the site of his series debut.  “I have learned so much over the last year and to finally be returning to the place where it all began is fantastic.  A great car, a great team and a great facility.  What more could you ask for?”

Low, who has impressed the team with his youthful energy yet professional demeanor, stated “COTA is definitely a top 5 track for me.  One thing I can definitely say about it is that COTA has more camber changes than any other track that I have raced.  I think knowledge of this track is key and I am thankful to have gotten some great local coaching from Michael Johnson as well as helpful advice from my other mentors.”

Joining the ST Cayman for the first time this year is Bodymotion’s #12 GS Porsche 997.  The team is gearing up with plans to run the two cars full time in 2016.  Piloting the GS car at Circuit of the Americas will be local hot shoe, Michael Johnson who is supported by local companies Austin Eye Gym and MX3 homes and veteran racer, Jim Michaelian.

After driving several seasons in ST, German born Michael Johnson is excited to be driving a Porsche in the GS class with an icon of the motorsport world, Jim Michaelian.  Together with Jim and Bodymotion, Michael expects to make a grand return to the series. “I’m enthused to have the opportunity to work with the entire Bodymotion team this weekend.  Making the jump to GS with this team will be the shot in the arm my season, and my career needed” stated Johnson.

“I’m delighted to join with Michael and the Bodymotion team at the CTSC race at COTA, this will be my first opportunity to compete on this legendary circuit and I’m looking forward to a competitive run this weekend” added Michaelian.
