IMSA: Paul Miller Racing begins Lamborghini testing

By

IMSA GT Daytona front-runner Paul Miller Racing has completed its first test with Lamborghini’s Huracán GT3. The Georgia-based IMSA entrant switched to the Italian brand after two seasons using the Audi R8 LMS, and just spent its first two days with the V10-powered Lambo coupe at a rainy Road Atlanta.

“We were there Tuesday and Wednesday shaking down the car, and testing went well,” PMR team manager Mitchell Simmons told RACER. Testing will continue at Daytona on Nov. 17-18 using an interim car supplied by Lamborghini.

“They’ve given us their test car so we can go and run and log some miles; I believe we will have our car towards the end of November, maybe early December. But because they’ve given us their test car, we’re not too worried about it,” Simmons continued.

“The main thing for us will be to get our own car ready for the Daytona test in January, and we’ll have plenty of time to do that. If we can get a little of testing done in the meantime with their test car, and cycle a few drivers through the car, even better.”

PMR also expects to announce its drivers at some point this month.

“You’ll see a driver lineup before too long,” he said. “I think it will surprise a few people and I think we can do very well next year. Mr. Miller’s prospects for drivers is quite impressive, and what he has up his sleeve has the team very happy.”
