IMSA: Audi’s Albuquerque likely for AXR endurance role

By

Audi Sport factory ace Filipe Albuquerque is expected to fill the vacancy left by Sebastien Bourdais at Action Express Racing. The Portuguese driver (LEFT), who is listed in the championship-winning No. 5 AXR Corvette DP for next week’s IMSA test at Daytona International Speedway, has been rumored as a possible replacement for the Ford-bound Bourdais. Reached by RACER on Friday, an AXR representative declined to comment on the topic.

Provided Albuquerque is confirmed, he would take over Bourdais’ role in the Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup rounds where he’d join countryman Joao Barbosa and fellow Portuguese speaker/Brazil native Christian Fittipaldi.

American road racing legend Scott Pruett could also join the No. 5 for January’s Rolex 24 at Daytona.
