Former driver and Mexican motorsports promoter Alfonso Toledano has died, his son, Alfonso Toledano Jr., announced Monday.

Toledano organized Mexican F3, Formula Renault and the Pan American F3 races, bringing them outside Mexico to other countries in Latin America. He finished third in Formula Ford 1600 in 1981 behind teammate Ayrton Senna. He also participated in the European F3 and World Sport Prototype in Mexico.

Alfonso Toledano Jr., also took to racing, participating in Formula Campus Renault and the Panam GP Series before a serious accident left him with multiple leg fractures in 2007. He returned to racing in Formula BMW and had a return stint in Panam GP.
