NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series point leader Kyle Larson was fastest in final practice at Richmond International Raceway with a lap of 119.074 mph.
Larson paced the 50-minute session – which was incident free – over Martin Truex Jr. (119.016 mph) and Jimmie Johnson (118.801 mph). Johnson will seek his third consecutive win in the Toyota Owners 400, having been victorious at Texas Motor Speedway and last weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Erik Jones (118.702 mph) and Chase Elliott (118.452 mph) rounded out the top five.
The rest of the top 10 were Kurt Busch (118.354 mph), Denny Hamlin (118.333 mph), Kasey Kahne (118.177), Matt Kenseth (118.152 mph), and Clint Bowyer (117.997 mph).
Kenseth will start on the pole in Sunday’s race.
There were two practice session run Saturday. Furniture Row Racing rookie Erik Jones was fastest in the morning session at 120.714 mph over Kevin Harvick, who ran 120.048 mph. Jones also had the best average of the drivers who ran 10 consecutive laps in the first session.
The top 10 in the session were Jones, Harvick, Paul Menard, Chris Buescher, Martin Truex Jr., Austin Dillon, Denny Hamlin, Ryan Newman, Clint Bowyer, and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
