Paul Wolfe will not be at Talladega Superspeedway this weekend as he serves the second of a three-race suspension after Team Penske withdrew its request to deter his suspension until its final appeal is heard.
A Team Penske spokesperson confirmed to RACER engineer Brian Wilson will oversee Brad Keselowski’s No. 2 team this weekend for the GEICO 500.

Team Penske was penalized in March following the Camping World 500 at Phoenix Raceway when Keselowski’s car failed the Laser Inspection Station (LIS) post-race. Wolfe was given a three-race suspension in addition to being fined $65,000 while Team Penske lost 35 driver and owner points.
However, after Wolfe sat out the Auto Club 400 (where Wilson also served as the crew chief) at Auto Club Speedway, the organization decided to appeal the violation. Wolfe worked with the team at Martinsville Speedway for the STP 500, which Keselowski went on to win.
The appeal was upheld by the National Motorsports Appeals Panel on April 12. Penske then requested the penalty go before the Final Appeals Officer, Bryan Moss. It has yet to be heard, however, after the originally scheduled April 25 appeal was postponed.
It will now be heard on May 9th and should the appeal be upheld, Wolfe would miss next weekend’s race at Kansas Speedway.
