Dale and Amy Earnhardt met through interior design and now the couple will take on a new project with a television series premiering in early 2018.

The Earnhardt’s announced via Twitter Tuesday that they are working with DIY Network for a series in which they renovate an historic home in Key West, Fla. Per the network’s release, DIY Network will air four half-hour episodes.

“Amy and I are excited to take on our first home renovation project together,” said Earnhardt in the release. “Amy is a fantastic designer. She has creative ideas and a strong work ethic. We love DIY projects around the house, and so I expect this to be challenging but fun.”
It was 2008 when Earnhardt met Amy, who graduated from the University of Kentucky and is an interior designer, when she was a member of the design team working on a house he was building. The two wed this past New Year’s Eve. Through Twitter in the past, the Earnhardt’s have shared their love for reality television, such as the Real Housewives shows and Dale even appeared on the Bravo network’s Watch What Happens Live.

Earnhardt announced last month he would be retiring from Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series competition after 18 seasons at the conclusion of this year. Since then, he has expressed excitement about the possibilities of life away from racing because of all of the other things he enjoys.

“We’ve seen how Dale Jr. races in a car, so we’re confident that with Amy’s help he will easily navigate the typical trials and tribulations of a home renovation,” said John Field, senior vice president of DIY Network. “Fasten your seat belts because this one is sure to be a thrilling, unpredictable ride.”
