Alexander replaces Labbe as Austin Dillon's crew chief

Justin Alexander will take over the role of crew chief for Austin Dillon in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, Richard Childress Racing announced Monday.

The move is effective immediately for Dillon’s No. 3 team, which sits 22nd in points with one top-10 finish entering the Coca-Cola 600 this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Alexander makes the move from the Xfinity Series, where he won two races while overseeing the No. 2 team and working with multiple drivers.

Slugger Labbe, who had been a longtime member of Richard Childress Racing and Dillon’s crew chief since midway through the 2015 season, is leaving the organization to “pursue other opportunities.” In 500 career starts as a Cup Series crew chief, Labbe has five career wins.

With Alexander now in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, his spot on the Xfinity Series team has been filled by Randall Burnett. Burnett most recently served as AJ Allmendinger’s crew chief at JTG Daugherty Racing.
