Many regarded the 2016 spring Dover race as the one that got away from Kyle Larson when he chose not to put the bumper to Matt Kenseth late in the race.

While the Chip Ganassi Racing driver has since won two Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series races, Larson’s No. 42 team unloaded off the truck ready to conquer the Monster Mile. Larson was fastest in the only scheduled practice session Friday morning with a lap of 159.915mph.

Ironically, second fastest was Kenseth at 159.603mph. Two fellow Toyota drivers followed with Kyle Busch third fastest at 159.398mph and Martin Truex Jr. fourth fastest at 159.209mph. Kurt Busch rounded out the top five at 159.039mph.

There were no incidents in the 1 hour, 25-minute session.

The rest of the top 10 were Brad Keselowski (158.898mph), Dale Earnhardt Jr. (158.688mph), Ryan Blaney (158.625mph), Daniel Suarez (158.493mph) and Chase Elliott (158.437mph).

The Cup Series will qualify for the AAA 400 at 3:50 p.m. ET.
