Acura adds NSX GT3 to customer market

Acura will make its race-winning NSX GT3 model available for customer purchase for 2018. The twin-turbo V6-powered coupe, which has scored two victories this season in IMSA’s WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, will be made available for domestic and international use at a price of $544,000.

“We are extremely pleased with the progress and success of the NSX GT3 in our inaugural season,” said Honda Performance Development president Art St. Cyr. “Winning at Detroit and Watkins Glen, two very different circuits, in this highly competitive class illustrates the breadth of capabilities of the NSX GT3. We look forward to seeing the car in Victory Circle at tracks around the world in 2018 and beyond.”

Eligible in IMSA’s GT Daytona class, the GT category in Pirelli World Challenge, and all manner of GT3-based racing throughout the globe, Acura expects its current factory-based NSX racing efforts to take on a more sales and support-driven look by the end of the year.

“We’ve intended to compete at the highest level since the NSX was just a sketch on a pad,” said Jon Ikeda, Acura Vice President and General Manager. “To see the NSX GT3 winning races and now available for racers and track enthusiasts to enjoy around the world is a major milestone for the second generation NSX, the Acura brand and the global development team that made it possible.”
