With the slowest lap turned in the Prototype class during qualifying for Saturday’s 12 Hours of Sebring, the United Autosports team will install a fresh Gibson V8 engine to use in the race.
“Unfortunately, in this morning’s final practice session, it was evident we’d lost our top-speed overnight,” said UA’s Paul di Resta, whose best tour of the 3.7-mile circuit in his Ligier JS P217 was a full 2.0s slower than Tristan Vautier’s pole.
“There wasn’t enough time to change the engine before qualifying so it was a case of doing the best I could in the circumstances. Therefore not surprisingly it was a big struggle. The race will be staged in very hot conditions so anything can happen. There’s a big grid and the car needs to be positioned inch perfect on the track. Collectively we’ll work together and should be in a good position.”
