Graham Rahal was nowhere on Wednesday — next to last on the 35-car speed chart — but he did an about-face on Thursday morning.
Rahal, in the No.15 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Honda, turned the fastest lap of the first two hours with a 226.047mph while running in traffic.
Tony Kanaan, who clocked the fastest no-tow circuit on Wednesday in A.J. Foyt’s ABC Supply Chevy, was second best at 225.896mph.
Marco Andretti, fastest of the month at 227.053mph on Wednesday, came back with a 225.584mph in the Andretti Autosport US Concrete Honda and Ed Carpenter continued to be among the top runners with a lap of 225.093mph in the Fuzzy’s Chevy.
Charlie Kimball was best of the morning no-towers at 223.208mph in the Fiasp Chevy.
