Kamui Kobayashi will return to 23XI Racing for his second NASCAR Cup Series start at Circuit of The Americas.

Kobayashi will be in a third, No. 50 Toyota Camry entry for the team March 24, alongside Tyler Reddick and Bubba Wallace. COTA is the first road course race of the NASCAR season.

23XI Racing fielded Kobayashi at the Indianapolis road course last August in the No. 67 Toyota. Kobayashi finished 33rd after an eventful race in which he was spun twice (by Andy Lally and later Ricky Stenhouse Jr.) in Turn 1. But afterward, Kobayashi spoke highly of his experience and expressed that he wanted to come back for more in the future.

“This time was challenging, but I understand what I need to do and I got quite good experience,” Kobayashi said then. “I think this experience was really amazing…because I always dreamed to race in NASCAR at one point when I was a kid.

“To bring me here is challenging for everyone, but we made it happen. Hopefully, I think we can explore even more in Japan about NASCAR.”

Kobayashi is a two-time WEC champion and former 24 Hours of Le Mans winner. He’s also made 75 starts in Formula 1.
